Gil Rodas

Manager of MuscleTech Network

Dr. Gil Rodas is the Scientific Manager of MuscleTech Network since 2009. He holds a degree in Medicine and a PhD by the University of Barcelona and is specialist in sports medicine. He has researched on diagnosis, treatment and prevention of muscle tendon injuries; functional assessment, supervision and monitoring of training of sportsmen; genetics and sports; heart rate variability (HRV) as indicator of the physical condition and stress and analysis of segmental bioimpedance measurements. During his professional career, he has made several publications, participated as speaker in many congresses and lectures and, besides his career as Doctor of the FC Barcelona, he is a recognized scientific and professional of reference in the world of Sports Medicine and research applied in this field.

Edwin Goedhart

Manager Sports Medicine / Teamdoctor Netherlands Football Team

Edwin Goedhart (1963) studied Medicine at the Free University in Amsterdam and after the 4 years specialization in sports medicine he was registered as sports medicine physician in 1996. After holding various positions in the field of sports medicine he is fulltime engaged in professional football as head medical staff since 2002:  AFC Ajax (9 years), AZ Alkmaar and BV Vitesse (each 1 year). In 2012 he was asked to take over the role of head medical staff of the Netherlands Football Team and in addition he was appointed manager sports medicine at the Royal Netherlands Football Association (KNVB) in 2013. He holds several managerial roles in sports medicine organizations like the Netherlands Association of Sports Medicine (VSG), and the Dutch College of Teamphysicians (CCC) Special areas of interests are the management of sports concussions, the treatment of groin injuries in football and the implementation of a scientific approach in football.

Mario Marotta

Dr. Mario Marotta holds a doctorate in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Barcelona in 2003. Dr. Marotta has been working as a researcher in Biomedicine for the last 19 years. Dr. Marotta is the current head of the Regenerative Medicine group belonging to Health Sciences Division of the Leitat Technological Center (Barcelona, Spain) and he is also a Senior researcher member of the Bioengineering, Cell Therapy and Surgery in Congenital Malformations group belonging to Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) based at Vall d’Hebron University Hospital (Barcelona, Spain).

He is managing the Human Performance Department in SLBenfica. Also he is focused on several topics including sports injuries, ultrasound diagnosis and regenerative therapies. He spends a significant part of his time taking care of athlete’s health, managing sports science professionals and facilitating the internal networking inside the organization and the external one, prioritizing the transference of knowledge between sports science, sports medicine, primary care and hospital specialists.

Andreas Ahlohorn

Andreas Ahlhorn is a physical therapist with B.Sc. Health and Care (PT/educations). He has experience in profi sports like soccer with diffrent locations in the Bundesliga. Currently he works in his own facility in Mainz and as a referent for sportstherapy in diffrent Highscools and universities. He is the developer of MEDICAL FLOSSING wich is established in over 13 countries. His device: Keep it simple, but think about it!

Rado Pišot

Institute for Kinesiology Research:  Science and Research Centre Koper

He graduated from the Faculty of Sport, he completed his master's degree from the Faculty of Sport and Faculty for Kinesiology in Zagreb. In 1997 he earned his doctoral degree from the Faculty of Sport in Ljubljana. Today he works as a director Science and Research Centre Koper and as a professor in the field of kinesiology, where he is engaged in numerous researches.

Matjaž Merc

University Hospital, Maribor, Slovenia

Matjaz Merc is an orthopaedic surgeon at the Department of orthopaedics in UKC Maribor, Slovenia working also as assistant on Faculty of Medicine in Maribor. He graduated in 2008 on faculty of Medicine in Ljubljana, Slovenia and earned his Ph.D in 2015 on Faculty of Medicine in Maribor. He was a visiting fellow at the Department of orthopaedics at University clinic in Basel, Switzerland, Speising Spital, Vienna, Austria and KBC Šalata, Zagreb, Croatia where he got subspecialized. His clinical work is based on foot and ankle surgery, paediatric orthopaedics as well as sports medicine. His research interests are mainly based on application of rapid prototyping technology in orthopaedics. Since 2010 he cooperates with NK Maribor football club working as a doctor in medical team.

Tomaž Bajec

Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Field of work: Orthopaedic surgery, Primary: Arthroscopic shoulder surgery and Shoulder endprothesis, Secondary: Foot and ankle surgery, arthroscopy of knee, ankle, elbow, sports trauma. Member of  Slovenian Orthopaedic Society since 1994,  Member of  Slovenian Arthroscopic  Society since 2000.

Sašo Djurić

ZD Celje

A specialist in occupational and sports medicine -  head of the dispensary for sports medicine at the ZD Celje. He has been a doctor for RK Velenje Gorenje for 10 years. He has been an official doctor for Slovenian men's handball team for the last 5 years.  With the team he participated in two World Cups (3rd place - World Cup France 2017), one European Cup and Olympic games. As a personal doctor, he works with numerous top Slovene athletes. He participates as an outworker for Institute of sports medicine Maribor. Dr. Djurić is also a member of medical commission at OCS and vice-president of the Slovenian Sport Medicine Association.

Zmago Krajnc

Department of orthopaedics in UKC Maribor, Faculty of Medicine in Maribor

Dr. Zmago Krajnc is an orthopaedic surgeon at the Department of orthopaedics in UKC Maribor, Slovenia, working also as assistant at the Faculty of Medicine in Maribor. His speciality are orthopaedic surgeries on large joints on the lower limb performed on athletes. He is a Head physician for the Slovenian Sailing Team, he is also a doctor for several football teams in Slovenia.   

Robi Kelc

Orthopaedic surgery resident and sport physician. Working with national futsal team. Focusing on skeletal muscle regeneration and novel approaches to diagnostics and management of tendinopaties. Recepient of ESSKA award (Amsterdam 2015) and ISAKOS award (Shanghai 2017) for basic science research.

Khalid Nasif

Terme Čatež

He is an osteopath, currently working in Terme Čatež as a Head of Medical Team. He has a lot of experiences rehabilitating patients after ACL reconstruction. He was a member  of medical team on 6 Olympic games, more than 8 World Championships and 6 Championships in Athletics. He constantly participates on congresses and symposiums all over the world as a lecturer, where he mostly lectures about ACL injuries and spine injuries.

Nada Rotovnik Kozjek

Nada Rotovnik Kozjek, MD, PhD, finished the Medical Faculty in Ljubljana in 1987 and medical specialisation in the field of anesthesiology and intensive perioperative medicine. In 1994 she did  postgraduate studies at University of Ljubljana with Master in Clinical physiology - research objective was » Physiological cardiovascular and respiratory response to sudden exertion« and in 2012 with Doctoral thesis in Clinical Nutrition - research objective was »The influence of enteral glutamine   on inflammatory response and metabolic stress during neoadjuvant radio- and chemotherapy in patients with rectal cancer. She finished Advanced course in clinical nutrition, Maastrich, Netherland and is ESPEN certified teacher of Clinical nutrition and IOC graduate in Clinical Sports Nutrition. Her current working position is at Institute of Oncology Ljubljana as the Head of Clinical Nutrition Unit. She is lecturing at Medical University in Ljubljana, Maribor, College of Dietetics in Izola and Biotechnical Faculty, University of Ljubljana. She is an active member of Slovenian Society for Clinical nutrition, ESPEN  and involved in numerous educational activities in Slovenia in the field of clinical nutrition last 15 years.

Boštjan Šimunič

Institute for Kinesiology Research: Science and Research Centre Koper

Boštjan Šimunič received a PhD from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Ljubljana. Since 2013 he is a Head of Institute for Kinesiology Research at Science and Research Centre Koper. His research fields of interests are: tensiomyography, skeletal muscle physiology, space physiology and bioengineering. He is a national record holder in triple jump and Olympic contestant.

Miran Muhič

Faculty of Education, University of Maribor

Lecturer and researcher in the field of kinesiology at the Faculty of Education, University Maribor. Lecturer of university subjects Motor Skills of a Child, Motorically Gifted Children, Sensorimotorics, Activity and Health; As a researcher he is engaged with child's motor skills developement, child's motor competences and morocally gifted children. For ten years he was a coach for young handball players. He colaborates with Institute of Sports Medicine.

Miloš Kalc

As a part of the project »Human Resources Development in Sport 2016-2022« he works as a kinesiologist at the Institute of Sports Medicine in Maribor. He is a doctorate student at the Faculty of Sport. At the Institute of Sports Medicine he is involved in sports diagnostics with the special emphasis on advising athletes how to return to the training process after injuries safe and successful. He is researching the impact of different types of exercise on the human nervous-muscular system.

Samo Mikl

He is Head of physiotherapy at the Institute of Sports Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine Maribor. He is working with numerous national teams such as Austrian Volleyball National Team, Ski Cross Slovenian and Italian Team, Slovenian Judo National Team, Team Gym Slovenia, Gymnastics National Team Slovenia. His speciality is physiotherapy of sports injuries.

Jure Bornšek

Physiotherapy Bornšek Jure, Ljubljana

Jure Bornsek in a physiotherapist and a specialist of Orthopaedic Medicine and Manual Therapy. In Ljubljana he runs his own therapy practice. Since 2006 he has worked in professional sport, he attends numerous competitions as a part of OKS and collaborates with top Slovene athletes and Olympians. His speciality is to find the cause of pain and abolishes them. In his free time he loves to spend time with his wife and son and he also enjoys adrenaline sport activities.
